Hi, I'm a 30-something tv director from Croatia and I've been interested in board games ever since I can remember... I recall designing my first board game when I was 6 years old. (a simple affair with rolling dice to move... my second one was with dungeon crawler with a geomorphic board)

Along with my pretty huge collection of board games from Advanced Squad Leader to Monopoly Deal, I have a couple of rather large boxes of papers and notebooks filled with various game designs of mine... Including at least 2 new RPG systems and a pile of original Risk variants. At 16 I organized the first board game club in Croatia (yes, in the middle of the war) and pretty much carried on weekly games nights with my circle of gaming friends ever since.

My wife, who is also an avid gamer, has been bothering me about finally polishing up and publishing some of my designs but due to some real difficulties (no game-publishing company in Croatia, not being in EU complicating everything etc) as well as my pretty demanding career, I've been putting it off for a long time. However, I've finally decided that the time has come to put my money where my mouth is and actually do try to publish a game or two.

I found BGDF through boardgamegeek, where I've been lurking from inception, and this seems as the place where serious boardgame designers meet to discuss their designs and publishing in a practical manner... which is exactly what I need. I have a few designs at advanced stage of development which I'd really like to discuss and I simply love rolling novel game designs through my head so I believe I can contribute to other designers' ideas as well.

I'm glad to have found this site and I hope I'll be able to contribute to the community!

Wecome to the BGDF

Welcome to the BGDF

I can imagine producing TV shows keeps a person very busy but pretty much everyone here, Publishers and Published Designers alike have day jobs. When I became serious about game design I had to give up other activates to find the time to do it. For me this was mostly watching TV but as I became more involved in the industry it also included reducing the number of games I play purely for fun. It’s a double edged sword. I get to play all sorts of games from around the world but not always the ones I want and I have to spend much of my play time doing testing for myself and others.

The designers here run the gambit in level of experience, style, and personal goals. There is allot of ‘my new idea’ posts and you can always help out with those by giving feedback as you would hope other will do for you when you’re ready to share.
