I've been working on a gladiator game called Ludus (i.e. gladiator school) for over a year. I changed the name to Ludus: Gladiator Combat when I sent it off to Hippodice. The game made it to the second round, which I was very happy about. Anyway, to the point.....

I'm getting close to self-publishing it, but I was looking on BBG and found a new game that just came out call Ludus Gladiatorius.

I feel like I should change the name of my game, but I would like a second opinion. I really liked the name, but I don't want it to be confused with the other.

yeah change it man

something unique.
notice that their title is better than yours.
Colesio y Ludus (totally grammatically incorrect but you get the idea)
Ludus Gladitorius sounds like a genus and species of an animal to me.
SO take a different route.

It does sound confusing. How about something like "Rete et Gladius" ("Net and Sword") -- assuming your game uses nets?

No one knows how the Romans pronounced their Latin. But a reasonable way for an English-speaker to pronounce "Rete et Gladius" would be "Reh-tay eht Glad-ee-us", to rhyme (more or less) with "red-hay bet glad-ee-bus."

I agree, a very cool name!
