I don't know if it was raised before.

Surfing the Mayfair games web site, I found that the sell 18 blank hex for 10.50 USD. These are from the Settlers of Catan game.

Blank Hexagons available at Mayfair

That's pretty sweet... if a little pricey. Maybe it's time to design a game based on Hex Tiles :)
