It seems like someone posted a request for these but I can't find the thread. Just in case I just spotted these lovely beauties:

http://www.discountschoolsupply.com/product/product.asp?sku=3610

1000 1/2" pre-painted wood squares in what looks like 6 colors, all for $5.82.

Oh, wow! Thanks for posting that! I'm ordering some right now! :-)

That is indeed a good deal, but note that they're squares, not cubes. That makes them somewhat less useful to me, although I suppose they can still be used as "control markers" or some such. And at that price, you can't go wrong!

Thanks,

Jeff

Browsing around their webby site, I see they've also got 5/8" wood cubes in the same 6 colors. 196 pieces for $2.67

They've also got assorted colored 1 3/4" 'matchsticks.' I'd assume similar pieces were used in Kahuna. 2000 pieces for $6.86.

Lovely bits! Cheap! :-)

Aye. The cubes are unfortunately too big for most any game... at 5/8" inch they're about 2/3 larger than most of the 3/8" (roughly) cubes you see in games like El Grande.

The matchsticks were the second thing I saw there and I salivated mightily, but at 1-3/4" they're too long for any of my projects.

Thanks for pointing them out, though -- I certainly should have.

(Jeff -- yeah, they're flat squares, not cubes. I though I remembered someone here asking for such squares... maybe it was someone on Spielfrieks.)

Are the matchsticks 1 and 3/4" or between 1" and 3/4" long?

From the pics, I'd say 1 & 3/4".

I think they are 7/4 inches. ( 1 + 3/4" )

Thinking about it some more, it's not that long.

I don't even need them but I'll go ahead and order cubes/square and sticks! It often stimulate your imagination when you see all the pretty colors and touch them and then all the ideas start flowing.

Wonder if they ship to Canada?

EDIT: BLAH!

Well, someone from within the states could order them and ship them to you. Of course, you might be paying for shipping twice. Not quite as good of a deal, but if you're interested, let me know. (via private message please.)
