"Eagle Games is going to be coming out with a Game Designer’s Toolkit. No word yet on what the kit will contain - only that it’s to be available in April 2006. " - from Boardgamenews.com

Very interesting - I wonder what will be included and what the price will be.

Wow! This is interesting. Anyone want to brainstorm what there going to include in the set? I'll start it off by saying the following:

Quad fold board Sprues with miniatures attached
    Dice
    Blank cards
Wooden counters in various shapes and sizes
Tiles in various sizes (hexes, squares)

I hope it comes out with other stuff than just material components, else it limits the kind of game you can design and it is less likely to help us. But I agree that it could be useful for kids or newcomers who want to try making a game.

From the fungain website:

The reference guide includes six interviews with industry insiders who share their views on what makes a good game. Over 60 years of game industry experience and 1000s of gaming hours are represented in these interviews.

In conjunction with the release of the Game Designer Toolkit, Eagle Games will hold a year-long design contest. There will be several preliminary events at the major conventions (GenCon, Origins, Boardgamegeek.con etc.) and a tournament format that will allow retailers and distributors to recommend game designs. At the end of the contest the top designers will be invited to the Eagle Games offices where they will pitch and play their games in person with the Eagle Games staff and review team. The design contest winner's game will be published by Eagle Games!

Let's hope that's a typo for cm, 1mm x 1mm cubes would be unfortunate...

I have a good resource for 1mm x 1mm cubes.

Go to the supermarket and ask them for "salt."

You get, like, millions of them for only a couple of bucks.

Yes, but like Henry Ford's cars, all six colors are white. ;-P

Actually they were black since it dried faster. But, let's not get technical! ;)
