Hi!
Some may remember my “Toy Wars” deck building game concept from way back. I’ve gotten some new and improved ideas for it recently and figured I’d share them on here.
So basically, 10 of a child’s favorite toys (also known as Toy Generals) get into a heated argument over which toy is the child’s absolute favorite and wage war with each other.
Players will construct their decks around the one of 10 Toy Generals and battle it out for supremacy. What I think makes this game different from all other deck builders before it is that it plays like a TCG (similar to Smash Up). The Toy Generals have their own health stats and abilities, and the first person to eliminate the other persons toy general wins. Here’s the fun part - every cards summoning cost is referred to as “coins” and you start out with a good amount of them. But the coins aren’t replenished unless a card says otherwise, so you can “sell” your toys (send them to the discard pile) and get paid back coins equal to their health
The problem: I don’t have very many card concepts. I plan to add Toy Generals, normal Toy cards that go into the main deck and “spells” that aren’t Toys but can do other things. Just need some help brainstorming some ideas
Thanks so much for all the sites! That gave me a lot of ideas I never would’ve thought of (I mean seriously, how did I forget about Monkey’s with Cymbals? XD). What do you think is a good number of cards for a base set of a deck building game?
