Well since October 3 2022 (Yesterday), the Tim Horton's Collectible Hockey Cards for the 2022-23 edition ... Are being sold at Tim's!

It took us 2 Packs to get a "base" Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. That was a real morale boost. But I also got a "Brad Marchand" "Flow of Time" 3D Holographic card... Get this: it's worth $29.99 CURRENTLY on the Market.

So I decided to grab another coffee and 11 more packs only to get a "Steve Stamkos" "Flow of Time" 3D Holographic card worth ANOTHER $29.99 (on the market)!

I am super stoked that I got those two (2) 3D Holographic cards in 12 Packs. So about $25.00 and I've got $59.98 worth of cards. There value will no doubt hold on the market since they are SO COOL!

But there are 18 3D Holographic cards and I am going to try to TRADE $27.00 worth of Rare cards in the Packs to a card store. The deal is that plus a fiver ($5) and they give me another one (1) 3D Holographic card... It would be a fair trade. The store would make $5.00 and have 10 cards to do future sales or trades for people collecting the OTHER RARE cards (chase cards) in the collection.

The way it works it that each Pack has three (3) cards: 2 Base cards which can go up to $3.00 currently (Sidney Crosby is worth $3.00) and 1 Chase/Rare card from a bunch of "sub-collections", one being the 3D Holographic cards.

Maybe I do this next week when I go to a Card Store. We'll see what they say. My deal is worth it because potentially the store can make more money on SINGLES that are sold to complete sub-sets. It's not always about the COOLEST cards, it's a fair trade and gives the store more cards they can RE-SELL.

Anyways we'll have to see... I'm maybe interested in buying 10 more Packs and see what luck has it with regards to the cards that I collect! But it is SUPER FUN collecting these cards and I've done already a couple hours worth of research to know the value of my cards and since I have no doubles, ATM it is good that I am capable of buying more packs without repetition.

Cheers all!

Spending on some Packs is worthwhile given that...

a Sidney Crosby 3D Holographic "Flow of Time" card is worth $59.99 ... CURRENTLY. A Carey Price is worth $44.99 ... It's insane how much these cards are going at and they are real cool too...

This is for this one sub-set of Rare/Chase cards. It's really neat and EXCITING to get one of these cards and I got one in my VERY FIRST (1st) Pack... Which was kind of neat since we had not done much research on the cards and their value.

It was a bit dumb luck that the first two (2) Packs were so valuable.

The next 11 Packs were worth about $27 dollars and worthy of trade at the Card Store. There are ONLY three (3) cards per Pack... So for $1.99 a pack the cards are not "cheap" and even the "core/base" cards have value too.

Obviously it's better if there are no duplicates and as my Aunt said: "Go to another location and see if they give you different cards so that you risk getting less chance of the same cards per pack..." And I agree. This week, I'll try another Tim's and see what I can get.

BTW the "core/base" collection has 120 cards. And so far in 12 Packs NO DOUBLES... That's very cool and encouraging.

Cheers again...

And there are some real RELICS too...

1 in 12,000 packs is a Gretzky Ultra Rare card... Plus some Signed cards which are 1:217,012 packs for a Signed Sidney Crosby! So some REAL rare gems in this Upper Deck collection of a bunch of "inserts" which come in various flavors and also different odds of getting them in a Pack.

I'm just saying for anyone who wants to drop a few bucks on some NICE Hockey cards, the value of the cards is pretty HIGH ATM... There are so many EFFECTS they are NOT plain and boring cards. 3D Effects, Holographic Effect, Foil-like effects, etc.

There are a bunch of "sub-sets" to collect. And my guess is that EVEN if everyone is Chasing the 3D Holographic "Flow of Time" cards, some of the others may have more value like the "Gold Foil" cards and some of the "Inmotion Phenom" cards are worth quite a bit too. I've got one (1) of those and it is currently worth $7.00.

So if you're anywhere in Canada, have a coffee and buy a Pack of Cards... Who knows what you will get! Sincerely.

The weirdest thing happened today!

I bought some packs and in ONE (1) Pack, there was ONLY TWO (2) no "Chase/Rare" card. Then I opened the NEXT Pack, there were FOUR (4) cards in it but only one (1) "Chase/Rare" card... Too bad... But I was short-changed by one (1) Rare insert cards! Hmm... 2 and then 4 but missing 1 Rare...

In any event ... I guess there was a screw-up with the machinery that produced the Packs! Wow... Rare... I was thinking maybe I should have gotten 2 Rare cards in the 4-Card Pack. Sadly, this was NOT the case!

Is anyone else collecting these cards??? I know we have people in Toronto, Ottawa and others in Montreal. There are Tim Horton's coffee shops in most Canadian cities. Let me know and maybe we can establish some TRADING... I am going to go to a Card Store Tomorrow and see what they offer me!

Cheers.

Bought some cards online ... As a birthday gift to myself!

Found a nice guy who was interested in selling his collection of "Flow of Time" cards from Tim Horton's 2022-23 Hockey Card Collection... I purchased eight (8) cards from his lot of available cards and should be getting the some time NEXT week. He's a fellow Canadian (in Toronto) and he wanted to be sure he was selling the cards to a "fellow Canadian".

In any case, I am happy with the purchase. I will confirm when I get the cards.

Sincerely.

Thanks for the well wishes ... but

The real day is only near the end of the Month... I bought the cards today after a chat with the seller on Facebook. I doubt that I would be able to get so many of these "Rare/Chase" cards due to the fact that they are so very "RARE"!

Bottom line: I am happy with my purchase and will no doubt enjoy the cards that I bought directly.

Feasible for me and I am very thankful to Mr. West for selling them to me!

Cheers all!

Note #1: Over the chat, Mr. West was generous to negotiate something with me... In the event that I am missing some of the 120 "Base/Core" cards... It's going to be a Christmas Present for 2022. Something to impress the kids and have them "OOoooh, Aaaahhh!"

Went to Tim's for a break today with Family...

And picked-up a few packs ONLY to get the Connor McDavid 3D Holographic Card which is currently worth from $50 to $60 CAD. Was a pleasant surprise, got it in the 2nd Pack that I purchased...

That bumps my 3D Holographic Card Collection to 11/18 cards.

Pretty decent... But yeah I had to drop a few bucks to get there. Like I said sometimes you just need to "treat yourself" and paying for some cards upfront is less costly that buying packs overall (better odds).

Again if there are any other Canadians interested in Trading... Feel free to respond. But I think I'm probably the only one collecting Hockey Cards. Not that I like "Hockey"... But I do like cards and I already have a nice binder, Ultra Pro 9 cards per sheet (that I bought a while ago to showcase cards from my various game projects - Like a portfolio...)

52/120 cards left in the "Base/Core" collection ... So we'll see. Cheers all!

Note #1: Not sure about the Christmas Present TBH. While I may like them... And the kids may, I'm not so sure how they will perceive the gift. I doubt either of them (Mother & Father) are into Hockey... So we'll see... Maybe when the kids are a bit older (10 & 8 years old). We'll see...

I'm willing to offer CHASE/RARE cards you may need ...

In the event that someone needs some kind of CHASE/RARE card, be it "Hockey Triumphs", "Red Die-cut", "Golden Etchings" or "Standouts"... I'd be willing to trade them for some Base/Core cards (the 120 set). Helps you collecting the hard to get cards and it helps me by making my 120 set complete...

I know this is a LOCAL phenomenon to CANADA... There are Tim Horton's in the USA so I'm not sure if the Upper Deck Hockey Cards for 2022-2023 are being sold in the USA too. I know there is a Tims on the Air Force Base in Delaware...

In any event... We are supposed to have a couple Trade Nights...

We'll see... I'm game for going down to the local Coffee Shop and spend a couple of hours to see what other people are interested in and what THEY are collecting.

Cheers all!

Note #1: I also won a Free Coffee or Tea the other day in one of the Packs... I'd prefer the 3D Holographic cards ... But hey I've got a bunch already which is pretty decent.

I received my 8 NT (Flow of Time) RARE/CHASE cards today!

They were really well packaged and today from the Coffee Shop, I got a duplicate of one (1) of the RARE/CHASE cards! So my plan tomorrow, is to go down to the Card Store (they specialize in Hockey cards too) and see what they have. I don't know if they will accept my TRADE and if they do, I may be willing to BUY a card too (which would give the store a Cash-positive transaction) so that they see that I'm not a "cheap-@ss b@stard" and that I'm willing to drop some money to pay for the cards I am looking to collect.

I'll post tomorrow evening the status of the PLAN... And see how it all goes down... I'm hoping things work-out good ... But we'll have to see what the Store thinks and what they have to offer TBH.

I was warned by a Seller to expect 25% to 50% of value when selling to a Dealer.

So I'm trying to give a GOOD trade (4 good cards for 1) and pay for another. We'll have to see how well the offer is received and what they think of the deal... Let's hope it is reasonable. Best.

Note #1: I also picked-up a Tim Horton #1 for the "Base/Core" set today too! That was also a pleasant surprise as it states the card is worth $2.00 CAD. Overall today's purchases were pretty kewl.

Bought 6 more NT (Flow of Time) RARE/CHASE cards today!

I picked-up for $29 a piece, six (6) additional 3D Hologram cards from various eBay Online Sellers. I of course cherry-picked the lowest costing cards ... Because I'd rather add three (3) cards rather than one (1) or two (2) at the same price.

Plus I got great news that one of the Card Stores TRADES Tim Horton Hockey Cards. Indeed the owner informed me of their policy:

1. For Base/Core cards, it's 3 cards for 1, meaning you give 3 cards and you get 1. For a collector it's great because you can trade for missing cards and for the store it's better because they build up their volume of cards.

2. For Chase cards, it's 2 cards for 1. No money. ONLY Trading and you must have two (2) if you expect to trade for one.

I also touched-base with the person who sold me a bunch of 3D Hologram Cards (8 to be specific) and he is out of cards. But he said, with regards to Base/Core cards, we can negotiate a fair deal to offset his time and effort and the basic monetary value of the cards to complete my collection.

Obviously I'm not looking to purchase all $800 worth of Rare/Chase/Base cards, I'm just going for the Base and the 3D Holographic cards. Some of the more expensive 3D Hologram cards are available online ... But they are a bit pricier than what I want to pay (think $50 for 1 card).

Maybe I'll get lucky and buy some extra packs and score one of these cards. One can be hopeful. Cheers.

Best 20 minutes in months... Hehehe

I went down to a Collectibles Shop and they agreed to trade... It was the best 20 minutes in months!!! No racking my brain, just looking through the various pages in my binder and I traded for 10 cards.

They've been trading and getting more variety in terms of their selection. Yeah today was a good day! Was fun that we just go through the binder and figure out what they had and I could trade for.

I offered up a Patrick Kane Spectrum card (INSERT) in return for the 10th card.

I still have cards missing and so I went to the Tims to buy a coffee and a donut and also took the time to pick-up a few packs to see what I get: I got yet another 3D Holographic card... So that means maybe I can negotiate a deal for some Phenom Cards... IDK.

There is a Card Exposition at the end of October (29-30) that is for people who are interested in trading cards and such. Tims also has a Trade Night on 2 November near my home (10 minute walk - so not too far)... I'm holding on to the two (2) 3D Holographic cards as they are worth about $40 ($20 each)...

I don't want to trade them at a loss... What I mean is that I might be willing to make some kind of DEAL for both of them in return for some other cards in the collection. But it would need to be like 5 or 6 cards for 2 3D Holographic ones (since they are more valuable and people are really collecting them)...

This promotion for Tim Hortons is great... I'm sure there are many people collecting because when I went to the shop today, they had more cards than yesterday... And it felt good NOT "wasting" cards (doubles, triples, etc.) When I could simply TRADE them for something that I did NOT have!

So thank you Reed... You really made my day! Cheers all...

The FUN about eBay!

So I was bidding on this ONE (1) NT Card and the amount went over $30 CAD... And I only had enough for $32 CAD in my paypal balance (with the taxes goes to $40 CAD...) So someone out-bid me and paid $33 CAD. And that was that.

But I had been watching 3 other offers for the SAME NT card.

And then by chance, losing the bid turned-out to be a "blessing" as I got a "BUY IT NOW!" for $30 CAD!!! I made the purchase immediately and paid with the remaining monies from my paypal account.

The next task I have is knowing HOW to get a REFUND for the GST + PST I paid for these cards. Technically I should be able to re-coup the taxes since the cards were bought and paid for from my Business Account. So it's a Business Investment and I will return the favor by instead paying interest, transferring the rights of those cards to myself...

I know it's all possible, I just need to figure it out...

Sincerely.

Two (2) more eBay orders - on the way!

I contacted a couple of Sellers just to know if my orders would be sent soon... Obviously chill and no pressure, just curious. I was informed that there is a 72 hour window (3 days) from the end of an Auction to send the product. I was not aware of this window and just was wondering because some of the Sellers were smaller ones and not people who ACTIVELY SELL on eBay!

So six (6) cards on the way ... And I'm waiting for another one to complete the NT set. That's the one that I bought "out-right" for $30 CAD.

In any event, I'm in process to almost collecting all the "Base/Core" cards and as those who read, I've found a place to trade cards. I will make ONE (1) LAST purchase of packs from Timmy's because eventually things need to end and then I can see what are the other options with regards to the balance.

Best!

Got an Order of three (3) cards but...

One of the cards was in ERROR (Wrong Card sent along with the other cards in the order). So I of course followed eBay's procedures to process the EXCHANGE and the Seller agreed to EXCHANGE the item. eBay is a bit tricky in how you need to follow their prescribe method of processing errors.

In any case the point being that the purchase is Guaranteed by eBay if I FOLLOW the prescribed methods set forth by eBay.

I got an EXTRA "NT-3 JONATHAN TOEWS" and should have received a "NT-13 JAMIE BENN"... Plus I had some troubles with the eBay system. I think I found a bug (with me selecting one item and the refund being on another!)

But Customer Support are always very knowledgeable and handle the questions and concerns with professionalism and experience.

Thank you Ali and Jen! The two (2) Customer Service Agents that handled my "EXCHANGE". Cheers to you all.

The Seller has contacted me again...

And asked to send the card by mail. Why? Because the process used by eBay asks for Tracking and a $12 fee for the label used by their system. For a $25 CAD item... That's almost HALF the price! So I understand why the seller wants to deal direct and not via the "prescribed" method for handling my "EXCHANGE".

Oh well, I'll tempt fate and put my trust in an unknown seller with 100% Positives and no bad complaints or unsatisfied customers...

I hope I don't regret it... Sending the card with blind faith (well like I said they have 8,000+ positive feedback). So I'm hedging the odds a bit.

Let's hope they are HONEST even if they made a mistake with my order.

Got another card today!

Unfortunately today is a VERY SOLEMN day (for reasons that I cannot disclose at this point in time)... But some bright news, I got the "NT-18 Carey Price" Hockey card when dropping off my Uncle at home. The card's in tip-top quality and looks great! As someone LIVING in Montreal... Always NICE to get one of the home-boys cards (Carey Price, Brendan Gallagher, Cole Caufield)...

Anyways we count our blessing and hope that they are made stronger by the events of TODAY! And we honor them and say that another day above ground is a good day!

Cheers all and do take care of yourselves...

Got to trade with Reed today!

The good news is that I have ALL of the "Base/Core" cards to the collection. The bad news is that the price to trade for remaining CHASE cards is a 3-to-1 ratio.

So for every nine (9) cards, I only get three (3) CHASE cards and get ONE (1) card in return. So I waste six (6) "Base/Core" cards which I no longer need. And then I trade 3-to-1 and land up with one (1) card.

Packs are $1.99 each so $5.97 + Taxes for ONE (1) card!

Most cards aren't even WORTH that much more like $2.00 to $3.00 ONLY.

I get it: people are encouraged to buy more Packs and TRADE 3-to-1... Makes more money for Tim Horton's ... But at this point in time, since I don't need ANY MORE "Base/Core" cards ... It's a waste of cards to buy more packs ... Since I have all of them (and Traded with Reed today ... To finish off my collection)!

My sympathies to the staff at the store. The loss of their Manager is indeed a tragedy that no one would have predicted! To all of you... I hope you can all move forwards and be inspired by Wayne's positive attitude towards all customers who deal in collectibles. Sincerely.

All that is missing is the "Wayne Gretzky" card!

When by the collector's shop this morning and ... you guessed it; I finished off my collection of the "Red Die Cut" cards. Reed gave me a super great deal and I was happy that I brought them coffee to enjoy this morning!

So basically I THINK the only card missing in my collection would be the "Wayne Gretzky" card which is 1:12,000 Packs. It's selling on eBay for $299 CAD + Taxes... That's a freaken LOT for one (1) card. I'm NOT thinkin about buying it ... But maybe I'd buy it for $100 CAD (not much more than that because otherwise it's a sellers price for ONE Hockey Card).

I know on eBay the cards are selling HIGHER than what I get at the collector's shop... Reed gives me great prices.

Well it's really NEAT that I finished collecting the "Red Die Cut" cards... There were 48 of them and it took a while to collect/trade for and get all the cards for the collection.

But now it's DONE! Finally... All but a couple cards worth $100+ each and the "Wayne Gretzky" which is currently out of my price range... But that's the best price I've seen so far ($299 CAD)!

I decided to be "crazy" and bought the "Wayne Gretzky" card...

I got it for $279 CAD which was a $20 bucks more than my offer of $260 CAD. Like I said only 1:12,000 Packs had the legendary card. And TBH, it adds a LOT of value to my collection which is 100% Complete now that I will ADD the "Wayne Gretzky" card to the collection.

Some sellers were selling the ENTIRE collection (minus the WG-1 card) for about "$600 CAD + Taxes and Shipping". So that put's my collection at a value over $1,000 CAD when you factor everything in.

I know some people collected and most will NOT have the WG-1 card... So that makes a SIGNIFICANT difference when comparing to my collection. I have the entire set PLUS the ultra rare chase card (WG-1).

There is a new set of Tim's Hockey Card out now... But I'm not interested in collecting. I spent enough monies on the 2022-23 Season and am HAPPY with what I got... I was a little "crazy" yesterday night... But you only live once and I believe that the seller that I bought did not collect the entire set.

So good on him for making a GREAT deal, he was super nice to counter at $279 and many thanks for him in making the deal happen. There are still nice people out-there!

Cheers.

I may ASK my Uncle if I can get the FREE COFFEE card too!

I got a FREE COFFEE card in the packs too... And gave it to my Uncle. But I don't think he redeemed it... So that can ALSO be an ULTRA rare card that gets added to my collection, I will speak with him and see if he still had that card or not.

I'll let you all know if he finds that card and returns it to my collection.

Best!

Making a Trading Set as as gift...

My Uncle gave me all of his Hockey Cards and I'm trying to do some trading to give him a gift of Hockey Cards of Value in Montreal. Namely all of the Canadiens Hockey Players except for the Montreal Draft Pick which was of course too expensive ($175 + shipping + Taxes). For almost that price I got the Wayne Gretzky Card which is worth about $600 currently (1:12,000 packs).

Anyways I'm going to do some trading and buying of a few cards to finish off his set. He said to add them to my collection, but I already have all the cards from that Edition (except the Draft Pick).

So we'll see what I land up with... I'm sure he'll be surprised!

Sincerely.

My Collector's Shop gave me a great deal...

I traded for some Canadiens (Nick Suzuki and Carey Price) in the Die Cut "Red" Insert Cards for $5.00 + Taxes... So $5.75 plus I gave him a bunch of Standard cards (which he added to their collection) and gave me a real good deal! Instead of charging me $10.00 for 2 cards (as per their value).

Unfortunately he did NOT have the "NT-18 Flow of Time" Carey Price card and so I had to purchase that one online for $20.00 + Shipping + Taxes which came out to $26.50...

And so the gift that I am giving my Uncle cost me about $32 and made some trades for some of the other cards that I will be surprising him next month. The last remaining card (Carey Price NT-18) will be shipped tomorrow as per the seller and I should get it some time next week.

It's more about the effort than the price of the gift TBH. Best!
