This contraption is used to indicate upgrades. You can upgrade your fighters' and bombers' range and combat rating. With a range upgrade, they can fly farther. Combat bonuses are added to their die roll. Thus, a heavily armed bomber can easily get through basic fighters. Missiles have no combat rating, but their range can be expanded.

This prototype uses bamboo rings on wooden poles, but I plan to redo it later.

An Argument

An Argument

The silo can contain and launch two missiles, one of them is nuclear. Nukes can devastate an entire city and even neighboring tiles, effectively ending the game. However, they take a lot of money and preparation, including a nuclear plant. If you let your enemy build these undisturbed, you're busted.

Our missile silo is up, with a conventional missile deployed. There is no protection against missiles other than bombing the silos or enemy cities to deny resources.

Oh my Science

Oh my Science

Our laboratory is almost ready. These consist of a maximum of 4 segments, like cities. The size of your lab determines the number of action cards - Ace Pilot, Flak etc - you can have at any one time. You need a fully developed lab to produce rockets and nukes.

Incoming!

Incoming!

An enemy bomber approaches. One of our fighters scrambles to intercept. Combat is played with dice, with rolls modified by combat upgrades and action cards if used.

The airfield is expanded now. Each strip can support either two fighters or a bomber. A double base can have 4 fighters or two bombers, or a 2+1 configuration as in the picture.

The city is now protected by two fighters, stationed at a basic airfield. Fighters will intercept attacking enemies within their combat radius. Prototype: cast lead figures, painted by hand.

Two cities

Two cities

Another city is being built in the background. Each player can have 3 cities on his island.

City

A fully developed city. These provide money each turn, and are prime targets for enemy bombers. Prototype: modeler's clay, 4 buildings per city. Catan tiles are used for the proto.
