Hi all, I'm excited I found this forum. It looks like it has some great resources and information.

I've been thinking about creating a game for a long time, one that would be:
* fun/replayable
* relatively quick to play (20-30 minutes)
* suitable for kids (I've got 4 sons < 10 yrs old)
* have a fantasy theme (dragons, magic)
* have the ability to level and customize your character

I've been working on my game for a couple months now, playing it with my boys, and we've been having a lot of fun! I hope to improve it with help from this forum.

One of the main things I want to figure out is how to get artwork. I haven't found an artist yet, nor do I know what their prices are or what sort of budget I need to have for art.

Also...anyone have any good name suggestions for a bow? I have a sword in the game called the Searing Sword, but my bow is called Mercy. I think there are better names to be found.

Bow?

You have a dice game that involves pushing your luck, and you want a name for a bow?
Long Shot

There are various resources here for artwork, and you may want to look at boardgamegeek.com also. And I guarantee there are a bunch of others, but they're slipping my mind right now.

As far as budget, it depends on what exactly you want done. How much art are you going to need, and what is getting art? Just the rule book? Do you want custom die faces? Do you have cards? How many illustrations are you looking at?

Great Name!

Long shot is a great suggestion! Thanks Mikey.

As far as art I need cover art for the box (I want this to look good and figure that's where I'd put most of my art budget), a logo, 8-10 cards with illustrations of weapons or enemies, lots of spell / ability icons that will go on custom 6-sided dice, and some miscellaneous stuff for the instructions.

I've found the site game-icons.net, and some of them may work out for dice face icons, but even so I would also want some spruced up color versions of them for the instruction sheet.
