Pledged $39 for a copy of the game

I gave my pledge for the game... But you seem off to a very slow start! :(

People we need to HELP to get this nice game FUNDED! Share with your fellow gamers and people who enjoy playing a light Euro like "Ticket to Ride"!!!

Many thanks...

Harmon89,

I gladly supported your campaign, I was looking forward to it! Your video presentation was good also, it really makes me want to play the game! I like history as a theme, and the portal/time travel aspect seems like it will be very fun, I know that we are looking forward to it. Hopefully the backers pick up!

I've given you the opportunity to talk about the game as compared to a gateway game or a light eurogame like "Ticket To Ride" (TTR). Feel free to respond as to my accuracy when looking at the game in a comparison manner.

Also feel free to respond to my comment, to give other people an idea about the game and what is compares to...

Cheers.

Thanks for commenting on my Kickstarter page! I actually think Ticket to Ride is the best comparison. It's probably just slightly heavier than that game (at least the original Ticket to Ride game).

Over 50 backers!

Well you've reached over 50 backers... That's good - but I wish it had come quicker! I'm worried that your KS will only get about $6,000 - $7,500 in overall funding... By my estimates HALF of your goal.

We'll stay positive and watch how the game's funding progresses.

Cheers!

Yes, it does appear that it is off to a slow start, but there is definitely progress! And that's good- stay positive :) It's never over until it is over. That being said, you will need to do more to increase your awareness to increase your chances of success. Perhaps post a flyer or announcement at any local game/hobby stores in your area? Also, try any local gaming groups or game cafes. Even if only one or two people back the project, that is more than before!

Best of Luck

Thanks for the encouragement

Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. I'll be going to Pentacon in Fort Wayne this weekend. Hopefully I'll get to demo the game there and pick up some more positive buzz. :-)

What you need to do is PRINT up 100 or so business cards with a QR-Code linking to your KS page. In addition to the name of your game, you as the designer and put the QR-Code corner or on the backside.

Take some time to get that done (perhaps printed locally). I know you say "marketing is not your thing", well you'll need business cards - if you want to get people to VISIT your page when they get home. Believe me: if they kinda like the game, they will take a 2nd look.

And the KS page looks great... You might get some backers!

I agree with quest, business cards are a good idea. Yes, have your game there, that will be the initial draw. If anyone is interested, give them your card with information leading to your kickstarter page, facebook, etc. You do have a good page, good videos, and good reviews. If anyone is "on the edge", then your page should put them over the top with their decision to back the project.

Hey Andrew!
I would say get in front of as many people as you can! Your enthusiasm will definitely help to get people "over the hump"! I think you've done a great job so far and I really hope you make it! I want to see more from you in the future. :)

2/3rds of the way there!

Just want to update everyone on the status of the campaign.

We currently are at 67% and have just one third left to reach our goal! If we can just keep getting the word out, I think we can make it!

A "real nice" tweet!

Way to go! Another BGDF Designer getting "Real Street Cred - in the World"!

I asked Mike from Outer Limit Games (OLG) to take a look... He tweeted about your game to over 8,000 of his followers! A sincere gesture of "Good Will" and wanting your Kickstarter (KS) be a success...

Hopefully that may drive some traffic your way! Cheers.

Note: Besides we should be hitting some of those Stretch Goals too! (Wink-Wink) LOL

Thanks Quest!

Quest, thanks for your involvement in the campaign and helping out in so many ways.

Wow! Thanks for reaching out to Mike, and I'm honored that he would be interested enough in the game to tweet about it to his many followers! :-) That is so great of him

Yeah, definitely hope we can comfortably pass our funding goal and maybe unlock one or two stretch goals as well.

Something in it for me...

harmon89 wrote:

I of course have my own "stake" in this too: I want my own copy! LOL So seeing you fund is the ONLY way that is going to happen!

Well I knew that for the IGG - it was futile. So I asked if Mike wanted to take a look... So instead about tweeting about a zero effort (the IGG) I'd figure he'd want to "tweet" about something more POSITIVE!

By my calculations, you should hit a little over $18,000... That's my guesstimate. Kicktraq is saying $20,000 ... we'll have to wait and see which is the more accurate projection.

Cheers.

I don't really get the whole Kicktraq calculations and why they are significant. Isn't the formula just based off of how much you've made per a day up to that point, and then extrapolated that to the remainder of the campaign? I would be cool if they took more things into consideration in their calculations.

I'm expecting pledges to drop some this week due to it being Thanksgiving week in the U.S., but hopefully it will pick back up for the final week.

Personally, I'll just be really happy to fund, though I'd love to check off one or two stretch goals as well!

Proper planning is always key!

If they did, it would be harder to conform and be "standard" for everyone.

Yeah I think you do have some time... You were smart to SHARE your campaign prior to launching... BGDF has a great collective of members and we regularly help each other in different ways, expertise, time (more like phase), etc. Some people are great with early prototyping phases or have interesting design ideas that people can learn from and adapt.

Other are stronger in terms of mathematics and computing probabilities... Some designers are real smart on BGDF...

Again others have real experience selling and making games and have experience when it comes to Kickstarter (KS) and what helps get a campaign from beginning to end.

But the key was that you involved the community BEFORE the KS. You did the proper planning and it's working "naturally" or FB calls it "organically".

Cheers.

Note: I'm interested in seeing you fund... but it's been real interesting seeing how the campaign is still "moving forwards" which is good. You had a mediocre start (30% vs. 50%) but you've been getting regular backers and giving incentive to those who already backed. So the next 36% (66%) was simply steady contributions.

We hope that the LAST contributions might be because people want to unlock more Stretch Goals in the last few days of the campaign. The ideal hope is to fund 1 week ahead of the end of the campaign...

Then it's a question of backers jumping on board because of Stretch Goals and added value offered by the KS. Still a week away before this happens. It be nice if you could fund by the end of the week - but like you mentioned Thanksgivings might put a wrench into those plans... But we'll see...

Cheers!

Yeah, it's just that their estimates seem incredibly unreliable and virtually meaningless until you get to the halfway point.

I do like how they show you how much you raised each day in a nice little graph. :-)

Sorry to enter sort of late in the game...

I just backed for a copy of the game and posted about it on Twitter. I have not seen many games of this theme with actual games inside much. I think your game is a big step forward in this genre and hope that it funds and does well when it gets picked up by Mardel. (Getting in contact with the Hobby Lobby team would be a great idea at this point)

Also, have you posted in the BGG forum threads for Kickstarter it is a way to get some more eyes on the page?

The Hobby Lobby team is something I hadn't yet thought of; great suggestion! I'll definitely look into it. :-)

Just bumping this thread up a bit, reaching out to anyone on the fence here. Portals and Prophets looks to be a great game and is, as of right now, only about $500 short of its goal! It's had a great run so far, help it get past the finish line :)

Congrats!

You'll definitely fund and I'm pleased to see a game of this genre/theme finally find on KS, having seen more than 100 which failed.

I've provided some financial support to get you closer to the goal.

Thanks Professor for the support and kind words! And thank you for taking a look at the Kickstarter page before it launched. I'm sure that helped get it to where it's at today. :-)
