I do art mostly for the fun of working in an industry I love, namely games. I already have a full time job that pays the bills, so I don't have to ask for standard industry wages; but then at the same time I need to ask enough that people aren't taking advantage of my hospitality, and I still have time in the day to spend with my family. The ultimate determining factor of my rates though is dependent upon the needs of my clients.
