Hexagonal Chess notation

"Rose Board Recipes - new games and old to play your way" is available this weekend as a .pdf version free and as an A5 194-page paperback 195 pages £5.00 published by Parker Wilk Solutions Ltd from me. The aim of the book is to establish a standard notation system for hexagonal Chess boards. And to raise funds for St Albans Cathedral UK. More soon.

Roseboards to play with and why - and how.

Things have moved on every month in the newsletter "Roseboard news" (and its predecessors) since posting the c3 roseboard five eas ago here. For instance, most roseboard designs use the regular equilateral triangular lattice array for unit areas (cells).

Why do websites like this one no list board games by the array (eg. "square" like Draughts/Chess on the one hand or "hexagonal" like Chinese Chequers on the other hand)? There are NO OTHER regular lattice arrays in group theory maths/geometry.

Roseboard notation

Alphanumeric notation used for Chess has been adapted for the "hexagonal" array by many designers, but the system used for roseboards has proved to be useful both for recording a game and for classifying a regular roseboard by means of the code for its centre cell. The c3 roseboard was an example in the blog five years ago and in the first paperback "Rose Board Recipes" ref: 10/15/2009 here.
