New Asymmetrical Card Game

I have been working for a week on a asymmetrical card game for two players where one player is the fish and the other is the fisherman. So far it is going well, however card interaction needs work, and I am trying to simplify the math involved to make it kid friendly, and over all easier to teach to new players, hope to get more testing in on Monday and integrate another mechanic to add some more luck to the strategy already designed in.

Mythic Migration Debuts on BGG

In the continuing quest to market Mythic Migration, added it to BGG here: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/96687/mythic-migration

I have looked through the forums here and seen other success stories out of the BGDF, is there a Guild on BGG for BGDF? Thanks again for the support and sounding board for ideas!

Mythic Migration Basic How to Play Video/ Marketing Ideas?

As a self-published designer, with games in stock, marketing is the next hurdle. So far sales are pretty good, with minimal effort (blogging and social site postings). A friend has been kind enough to help kick it up a notch and has made a how to play video. I have added a couple things to BGG (awaiting approval) before I can add the game to the site, so here is something for you all to watch :) I am open to hear other creative marketing ideas that are low budget! Anyone else in the marketing boat at this moment in time?

Mythic Migration Released!

http://mythicmigration.blogspot.com/2011/02/mythic-migration-release-par...

A great time was had by all, 17 friends and friends of friends in attendance, around 9 games played in the 3 hours (mostly 4 player variant). Awesome cupcakes that my wife made!

So many thanks to all the people who made this possible, and a shout out to BGDF for helping connect me to artists, manufacture and being an ongoing inspiration!

You all rock!

Mythic Migration Manufacturing is underway

As I sit back, market and finish details for the debut of my first game an idea came to mind... Why not get some inside info from the manufacturer. So, I am putting together an interview style email to get some background and put together a blog update.

So, any questions you all would like to ask a US, small run, manufacturer?

So far I am going to ask about history, the "why" you got into the business of helping people self-publish.

Thanks for giving it a think!

Mythic Migration Demo Copy has arrived!

After close to 2 years of development the demo copy is finally in my hands!

Play test underway for unamed game

I have a new admiration for the time it takes to balance a deck style game while keeping the number of cards under the industry limit. Anyone know of a tower defense style game that uses deck-building for resource management? I have looked around and not found a game blend of that kind.

As a side note, it seems my blog has had more spam than comments ^^ Hope everyone is enjoying some end of the year designing.

With one game almost ready, I turn my focus to another

I have always enjoyed tower defense games, as well as deck building games. I have Played almost all the Dominion games, as well as Ascension. I wanted something with a different feel, something with more interaction, and some permanence from hand to hand. So I thought I would tinker with a combination and a few important twists (aka no counting up VP at the end). So, I am in prototyping and have no idea what to call it. The closest thing that exists is a popular arcade game names Plants V.S. Zombies.

Over a year later (from art to reality)...

When you have a dream, there are times to be practical, times to compromise and times to just go all out! The past few years have seen ups and downs and delays of plenty. Finally I am awaiting on the demo copy of my first self-published game! Pre-orders are underway and I only have to sell 13 more to fully fun the first run.

For all the people out there with dreams, it will not be easy, but you will find so many rewards along the way, if you just keep your head up and an eye out for helpful people.

Manufacturing/logistics

I have almost final artwork for the board, have another friend working on some images, and might be using a board for the base instead of tile (for cost restriction, and ease of set up).
