There's some recent articles over at The Games Journal that are of particular interest to us game designers:

Theme & Mechanics by Bruno Faidutti, about the chicken and egg problem of which comes first.

Boards by Dave Shapiro, about different types of game boards and their influence on game strategy and play.

Living the Dream 3.0 by Chad Ellis (I think he's been around here) talking here about some of the effects of playtesting and responding to reviews (the whole series is great about getting a company off the ground)

and Prototype, Prototype, Protospiel by Kes Sampanthar, about his experiences at Protospiel 2004 and his first printrun of MetaMemes.

Also, Greg Aleknevicus the editor, is always looking for people to write more articles and for suggestions of how to improve the site. For example, I suggested trying to categorize all the articles into sensible groups, and he agreed, so the past few months I've been helping out and updating the Archives by Topic page; if you have any corrections or suggestions to move articles to different categories, let me know.

Maybe someone could take the discussions regarding the various game mechanics and distill them into a useful article. There have been some great topics and some great discussions!
