This is a pretty cool and totally free source for a bunch of cardboard foldovers which could be very useful. The guy even gives tips on assembling them.

Binder clips!! >sound of hand smacking forehead< I've been scouring the game stores looking for counter stands!! I never even though to use binder clips!!!
Actually, you can remove the metal handles (I do whenever I use them to display something). For each handle, pinch the sides of the handle to one side ot the clip. When one leg of the handle is free of the clip, remove it and pull out the other leg. Voila, the handle is removed.
Indeed you can. I tried that the other night, but I didn't try hard enough.

I used binder clips for 2 of my protos so far, until I can get something different. You can buy them much cheaper than walmart if you buy them in bulk, like 12 boxes for $6 (I bought mine at Office Depot) instead close to a dollar at wal-mart.

So I printed out several of the clip-art things from that website I mentioned, ran them through the xyron laminator to put adhesive on the back, folded them over the end of a piece of cardstock, then cut some of them out with an X-Acto (actually I also got a Fiskars shape-cutter thingie which is pretty cool). For stands I used mini binder clips which you can get at any office supply store. I don't know where to find better stands, but side from the handle things sticking up and being visible there's not much wrong with the binder clips.
At any rate, it worked great. I now have little armys of minis- guys with swords and sheilds, guys with bows, some are Roman looking, some look like Robin Hood types, some are like knights and stuff.
If I can I'll take a picture. I think this could work great for stuff like jwarrend's 12 Desciples. There are some monk-looking dudes that might work for that- either use colored bases or maybe colorize the image before printing to differentiate the tokens and they can all look the same.
