We've done direct mail to retailers, not to customers. Doing a direct mail campaign targetted at customers is an interesting idea. Are you looking for sales or just building your image? It would be interested in hearing how well such a campaign pulls.
My thought would be that you're looking at a fraction of a percent in terms of responses. i.e., send out 1,000 pieces, maybe get 4 or 5 responses. I could be wrong, of course. It would be great to hear if anyone has had any luck with this.

It is less than 1% for sure here in Brazil too. I have used direct mail and I know, but it is still cheaper then other types of advertisment.
If you could build a better mail listing (people that went ot a game convention) this numbers got better, of course.
