Warhammer AI development

Hi everyone I'm new in the forum,

I've always liked the board game warhammer and warhammer 40k, now I have the chance to develop the game in a virtual way, but first I want to start from the most basic. I will be glad if you can throw any ideas around and where should I focus better.

At first I need something to scan the board (map) and the units, lets put it simple, plain map and one unit! (I've read things like Scanplay) is there any existing software to avoid developing that part of the game and that could help me scan the units as tokens or something similar?

After I have the virtual representation I want to start with a simple AI, just something like move, retreat, attack, afterwards implement some skills of the units. But like I said, at first something really really simple, and then develop from there.

Thank you for all your input, and I will be posting my progress here!

Generic?

Welcome!

I am not sure about the scanning software, but for prototype/playtesting I would suggest the simplest tokens or icons that can still represent the units with some clarity. To that ends, there is more than sufficient source material for the Warhammer universe if you just plan to scan it quickly and crop it down to the size you need.

For internal use purposes ONLY, I would not expect there to be an copyright issue...unless you own a Warhammer use license :) ?

Good luck with your project!

Not expect an issue? You clearly haven't seen GW in action. :-)

:)

Thank you,

Thing is the idea came from playing warhammer, of course I will be using just simple tokens, so no copyright issue. I know there is really interesting material, I'm playing around with VASSAL, and Battleground, thing is I need to get like a log or data from the software to make it as input for 2 robotic arms to move the figures :)
