I find this an odd message to get since I don’t use any of those browsers. How could they be out of date?

You're probably using an old
You're probably using an old version of MSIE, or browsing from a mobile device with a browser that doesn't support HTML5 or something, hence triggering the message.
I'm confident it's not you that the site doesn't like, just your browser of choice.
BTW, great resource (for those using one of the accepted browsers)!
