First I would like to warn everyone, at the moment I have no computer so I'm stuck with typing through my phone.

That out of the way, my name is Christopher Kilroy and I'm the founder and Lead Designer at Gaming Ninja Studios. We currently only have one other person on staff, Jeffery Davis, and he specializes in Game Theory.

Right now we currently have a single project we're working on as a team, one I've been working on off and on as an individual since my senior year of highschool.

The game is called Duel Dice. Its an interesting take on a TCG in that the main focus is on two dice with the cards supplementing. I will of course be going into more detail later on but I'll just leave my introduction at that.

I hope to help as much as receive it here now and in the future . Thanks for having me.

EDIT : As a side note, we are desperately in need of an artist for the game board, cards, etc. Is there a forum section to post such things or does anyone know of any good sites aside from DA? I've run into too many big egos on DA as of late.

Hello Christopher and Jeffrey

Welcome to the forum. You check out BGG.com, Rpg.net, Gamedev.net and or cartography.net. Some one at these sites may be of service. Or check your local college for help in the art department? Hope this helps you and Jeffrey out.

Thank you

Those are actually all very good suggestions. Local college may have to be a last resort because of lack of car atm. But thank you, that should be of help.

Finding artists is sort of a tough task... I would wait until your game is in a NEAR FINAL state. E.g. Not many changes left to do to the rules or the game itself. This obviously means plenty of playtesting also...

You should be able to design a nice Black & White prototype using a home computer with something like Adobe Illustrator (or Photoshop - usually used production quality, with colour and all). Cards fit nicely on an 8.5"x11" page (9 cards per page). Board might be composed of like 4 papers (using cardstock from Staples), etc.

These are just some ideas to help you design a working prototype that you can playtest.

Some designer here will tell you to "Forget the Artwork" and focus on the game. Once you write your final version of your rulebook, to submit the game to a publisher and see if they are interested in the game. Then the publisher worries about all the artwork... And you get a percentage of each sale of your game.

If you want to have say into the artwork, well then you should consider Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com ) and self-publishing your game. You could even use a service such as The Game Crafter to fulfil your orders (http://www.thegamecrafter.com ). Obviously once you have a successful campaign and have gotten enough money to make the artwork for your game (board, cards, etc.)

Its mostly finished

The game itself is mostly finished. I will admit that it probably will need a little more polish but the main things we still need are balancing out the cards and getting art done for them. As foor publishing, I'm going the self publishing route. I even already have a quote from a company for printing the cards, custom dice and printed rulebooks. I've even done some premarketing and figuring margins. With current costs I can sell the booster packs store price at $2.50 with a price to the stores set at $1. They make a $1.50 profit and with packaging I make $0.75/per store sale and if I sell through my online store I make $2..25/sale.

Its the starter decks that I will be selling at a loss but from booster pack sales I should more than make up the difference.

As far as Kickstarter

I have one setup but I'm not finalizing it until we have an artist on hand.
EDIT: I want to make sure any promised rewards I offer can be fullfilled in a timely manner.

Not a problem

Thanks forr the correction Stormy. Any chance bgg.com could have been wrong cuz it redirects me to bggonline.com.

Thanks for that. I thought that's what he meant but I wasn't sure.

Basically this is all that needs to be done

The only real reason I'm here is to get help balancing the cards, some playtesting, and perhaps suggestions for better ways to do things.

I've already got the rulebook finalized(just needs better wording), Some of the cards are done(minus art), I have quotes for all the components, I've figured out sale prices and what stores pay, and I have a Kickstarter project on hold waiting for everything to be finalized.

Quick Question

Where do I post the information that's ready for critiques to get critiqued?
