Protospiel Bingo Creator App - By JT Smith

A few years ago Randy & Maxine Ekl created a mini-game called Chi-Bingo at Protospiel Chicago. (aka Protospiel Bingo). Randy created a program to generate the bingo cards, but it was only usable by programmers.

We need more Protospiel Bingo in the world, so our very own JT Smith turned Randy’s code into a website app. Now anyone can make their own Protospiel Bingo at their Protospiel event. Just visit http://protospiel.events/bingo/index.html and create your own custom Protospiel Bingo game!

This new app created the bingo cards at our upcoming Protospiel Madison event on Dec 2-4. Grab a badge and be sure to join us!

Hmm... Cool beans!

Are there any prizes??? Maybe winners can claim some thing like a $2.00 USD TGC Store Credit or some other kind of prize (if it makes sense). It definitely does a good job in making the semblance of ORDER in what can be a very CHAOTIC EVENT!

Store Credit might not be the best reward ... But another option would be ONCE you've MADE BINGO, you provide a name and e-mail and enter the BINGO SHEET into a LOTTERY! Then maybe one lucky winner get a $20 USD TGC Store Credit, the runner up gets a $10 USD TGC Store Credit and third place get a $5 USD TGC Store Credit.

That would mean BINGO-LOTTERY CRAZE!!!

Again it's only $30 USD in Store Credit... Nothing to BREAK-THE-BANK. Just some added fun and chance...

Best of luck with your EVENT (Protospiel Madison)!

Another small comment...

Is that USUALLY on Bingo Cards the CENTER space is reserved for a "FREE" space that allow the players to usually use to only get 4 instead of 5 visits and/or playthrus.

So Diagonally, Top-to-bottom (thru the center), Horizontally (thru the center), would all require the guest to only visit 4 locations and playtest 4 instead of 5.

Anyhow it's just a small comment (as to accuracy to Bingo!)

One explanation could be a question of TIME: does the guest have the time to play all "5" games in addition to other games they are MORE interested in than what is available on the Bingo Card. So with the "FREE" space it allows the guest more time to explore what interests them the most IN ADDITION to playing along with the Bingo Event!

Again just sharing some reflections and ideas. Hoping your Event is a smashing success!

Interesting dichotomy

Why not have a DRAW from the POOL of "submitted" Bingo Cards?!

But instead of it being only THREE (3) winner (as per the example), it's a MONETARY limit... Player's can have MULTIPLE Bingo Cards but ONLY "winning" ones count.

For example: For someone who visits 4 Diagonally, then if that person's card is DRAWN, they WIN "$5.00 Store Credit".

But TGC has a running count of $250 STORE CREDIT (Total winnings).

And so the pot would be deducted by $5.00 and now contain $245...

If you visit ALL 25 locations: you stand to WIN a $25 TGC Store Credit.

This means that people can TRY multiple Cards and visit more than one set of games that they've playtested!

And then it's the whole strategy: bank on ONE (1) Card or SEVERAL with lower amounts...!

Just some "outside-the-box" thinking. Cheers!

The individual protospiels

The individual protospiels that run bingo on-site provided prizes. Sometimes we (at The Game Crafter) provided prizes like at Protospiel Online. However, this is not always the case.

We did not design the game, just implemented the game from the existing rules.
