Oddly, I was stuck wrapping my head around atomic to find a theme I'd like. Once I got that, it's been rolling along. And this time I know there is a whole week, rather than getting it confused with the 24 hour challenge I read about on BGG.
In the process, I was brainstorming some of the things an AI could control other than just an enemy. Here's a few:
- Board tiles
- Blind bidding
- Envirnoment state/conditions
- Types of encounters
- Actions available
Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.
I haven't seen any graphics in these to help explain the rules. Can submissions contain graphics?
Hi RentonB; welcome to posting-land.
There are no images allowed in the design challenge; it helps to keep things even in regards to swaying readers with fancy pictures. If you look back at the archives when images were allowed you'll see what I mean by some entries getting votes because it looked like a more "finished" game.
One of the benefits of the showdown has always been stretching your writing skills to explain rules clearly in a limited amount of space. This, along with the great feedback you can get on your mechanics, are big draws for the showdown.
There is a wiki entry describing the rules here.
Good luck in crafting your entry!
Entries are due by the end of Friday, August 9th! (By the clock on BGDF)
This is a favorite topic of mine, but I'm too busy with the bgg solitaire game competition at the moment. Too bad that you had to pick this month for having this topic here.
Anyway, if someone comes up with a great idea here, there might still be time to work it into a more complete game to submit for the bgg competition. :)

Since GenCon is this week, remember to vote on the GDS before you go!
We have a winner!
Missile Dice took the gold medal position by very slim margin! Congrats!
Breakdown:
I know everyone's at Gen Con right now, but let's go talk about these games anyway!
