Rulebook Tip

One thing that at least some who frequent the BGDF site from time to time might find useful is some software that will allow you to combine multiple PDF files into a single PDF file.

Genesis

My son and I

I never posted on the old BGDF site very much, preferring to mainly just spend my time on the site browsing and reading. I do think that the new BGDF site looks infinitely better than the old site, and I think that the new layout will prove to be a blessing to the site going forward.

I am not sure what I want this blog to focus on, specifically. I suppose that it will end up being a mish-mash, just a little bit of everything that is game related.

Verbose

Usually I wouldn’t be writing about another designer’s game in my blog unless I had at least play tested it. Yet I have found what I believe to be the most overwritten set of rules in creation.

2008 GENCON Report

Like every year I am summing up after my trip to GENCON. Most of these reports from my old blog are less then stirring yet this year was a little more interesting.

GenCon 2008

This coming weekend, I'm making the sojourn to Indianapolis, Indiana (USA) for the annual GenCon gaming convention.

Can anyone share their insight on creating the actual board for boardgame?

Hello,

You've probably seen this request many times before, but this is my first time. So, if you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am just starting to get my feet wet into this boardgame business. I have my game, the rules and I am creating a prototype right now. I have the info on copyright, my next task is producing the game.

Can anyone share with me who would be a good vendor to use for creating the board, cards, dice and pieces? What the average costs is.

Thanks,

Opening Thoughts

I recently stumbled on BGDF through BGG, and I'm hoping that it will serve as a good sounding board, reference, and general support network for my endeavors in game design.

UserPage 3.0

Below is a recreation, or re-posting, of my UserPage back on the old board game designers forum. On both of the old forums I went by DSfan.

Although it doesn't seem like blogs have the same function as a UserPage, I'm sure it won't be that difficult of a transition because I only check up on the site once and awhile.

Starting off my new blog

Following is an update of my current state of game design (since we are on a new site now and I don't want to port over all of my content). Also, I changed my username to mistre from markmist for those wondering. Edit: Found a new avatar! I quite like it.

Castle Raiders - I have a potential blind playtest group lined up (A friend of mines buddies in Orlando, FL are going to try it). Edit: The game was shipped out 8-14-08 to Orlando! I can't wait to hear some feedback.

Make-Your-Own-Board-Game

Someone posted this Link at BGG http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Your-Own-Board-Game

It’s obvious they know nothing about making games and it's a Wiki so i figured i could fix it up a bit.

How about this.

1. Come up with a unique idea for your game like Lawn Gnomes trying to escape the maniacal and dreaded monster named MO-R.

2. Draw pictures of the monster eating the gnomes and show it to your sister. If she screams go to step 3, if she doesn’t try again.
