Brand new update:

In the last few weeks I have been working on the Dymino Monsters world map.
The drawing is on a plastic poster board. The coloring is crude but it's decent enough for a world map poster. It's not finished yet.

I am also allowing in the game during player / character ranking up to the second level to obtain dual wield for all characters and both genders. It's also player option to dual wield or not. Why so early in the game?

Well, in a real life situation any person trained in weapons or not is going to fight dual wielding or choose not to. Again this game is designed how ever you want to fight and defend. Tons of tactical decisions and strategy from each player.

World treasure cards can be added under monster encounter to gain new weapons, accessories and items and other trinkets to gain more attack points and defense points.

2 weeks left for Animarathon. Our group can't wait.

Beyond The Horizon 4WCPWS manuscript Episode 12 is coming along quite well.

Stay tuned for more information.

Monster encounter update

Last night I created 16 brand new monster encounters for the Wicker Tangle Chronicles second Novella.

It has been slow here at the independent game studio. Don't get excited we do all of our projects on paper , poster boards for now.

Our Beyond The Horizon 4WCPWS is going well.
Manuscript 12 was completed on April 2. I wrote 32 pages to complete it and started writing episode 13. Episodes 1 - 13 will be our first season part 1 and Episodes 14 - 25 will be our first season part 2.

We will be breaking up each season on our line up in two parts for our manuscripts upto season 5 part 2.

We have talked about a spinoff and we started writing the spinoff on April 3. The first episode for the spinoff was written in a day and started on episode 2 the next day on April 4 2017.

Update from last nights progress

1: Kartohmb the Minogryph has been fitted with a classification after a year in prototyping each character classification. It took me for ever to come up with a class for this character to make him unique for the storyline. This character is a ground / flying creature and wields a spiked club. He also uses his claws and tail as weapons to.

2: Storyboard character encounter chapter list for each character or groups of characters our players will encounter in the chapter deck boxes has been written on May 1,2017.

3: The list created might be considered as a collectors character playable deck that is based on the chapter events or used in campaigns.

This intrigues me...

Wow, this is a really nice idea. I love the fact that each set of cards has a corresponding novel, exactly what the plot driven players want.

I'm assuming the whole story is already finished in your team's heads?

Thank you

Glad to hear that you like the idea of my game.

I do have a structure and final idea for the storyline , just writing it all down is another project in itself.

I am planning to write all of the novels in manuscript format. This will be a lot faster for me to complete. I am also working on prehistory timeline about the main storyline about the Toy Master Works.

Then from there start editing the first six chapters from novel format to manuscript format. I had stopped writing the novel a year and a half ago due to other game projects , but I have been working on all of the hand drawn prototype location play mats located from the novel.

More stuff is to be completed. Other projects are in post production as well so I devote my time on other projects then Dymino Monsters.

For the final storyline, there are alot of details to work out and I think it has alot of promise, but it doesn't mean its set in stone yet.

Just to let everyone know that this story is going to have 10 novels with that of two franchises. Each novel set will have five novels each.

I am working on all of the 14 playable character backstories and the tie ins to where they aid our main protagonist Dymino and yes the story is some what finalized.

Wicker Tangle Chronicles

After six years sort of speak , that today at 6:34 pm The Wicker Tangle Chronicles second novel chapter deck titles have been finalized on our list.

What does the second novel franchise include?

Three parts. Each part of the chronicles have 14 chapters which make up 42 chapters in all to tell the story.

New monster encounters. New folk lore to read, New puzzles to discover and uncover the mystery and truth. New playmats. Just like the first novel playmats that connect, so do the new location playmats.

42 chapters, 42 playmats with 4 sections each. Thats 168 playmats that connect.

Stay tuned for more updates and pictures.

About the journey...

I guess @Jesse you are all about the "journey"!

I used to be like that, when I was in my 20s. Now twice that age, I'm more into what works best now, in order to better secure my future.

But there are definitely some things that today, I don't have the time to wait for (luxury at the age of 20 somethings...) If I want a game to be a success, well I've got about a couple years to do it. And if I want to be known as a Game Designer - well that means I need to put out more quality games than just "TradeWorlds".

Although some designers only design one (1) game... most design several.

So I my goal is not to write a novel about the game. But put out a quality game that people can play and enjoy. That's my thing: I want people playing the game.

So I guess I'm more about the "destination"!

I want something "out-there", people like the look of it, enjoy the mechanics in the game, duke it out in some tense battles, and overall enjoy the experience. Enough so that they decide to acquire EXPANSIONS for the game!

Life changes you ... I would guess.

Wishing everyone success with their game designing efforts!

Cheers.

Note: That's why I can't WAIT until June 2018! That's when the backers get all their copies and share with us their wonderful experiences with the game. And that's when we can get a 2nd breath of getting more people involved with playing the game.

You can bet that I will be at Comic Con in 2018, once I have a RETAIL version with the box and all the pieces together... ready to be demo-ed to potential buyers (those who are late adopters). The ones that want to know if people like the game ... is it worth the extra expense even if it is retail pricing!

Our Journey...

Our journey has been a remarkable adventure. The destination awaits in due time, due to the fact that the storyline has not been told yet. Telling this story takes time to find the destination even though the destination has been written, just getting there takes the journey.

At the beginning of the design, I knew that this project was going to be enormous. I just didn't know how much of a giant project it was going to be. I enjoy large projects and the effort of the details it takes to create, design and complete. I wanted to create a new game design with a new original game mechanic. I have succeeded that.

The longer the project takes to complete, means that it will be greater in the end. Dymino Monsters is not the only game design that I have created. In just the last ten years, I have created 25+ different games, though not in stores. Not in the list, during the last ten years are as follows; 1 board game, 3 dice games, and 4 physical games.

When designing and creating board games I take different approaches depending on the design. The two fastest card games I have created on my list are Joust, a micro game of 28 cards and King's Gemstones. A betting, bluffing card game that includes 50 cards.

Joust was created in three hours on one day and a year and a half later, King's Gemstones was created in two days, but the second day the cards were all drawn out in about 3 hours. In my opinion, your already a game designer the moment you design and lay the foundation of your project.

I and my team members design games because we enjoy the thought process and the outcome of the final product. It doesn't matter to us if our audience likes the game(s) or not. What matters, is the journey that took us to get to the destination. This is what we are about. I want to get to the destination of my Dymino Monsters game, but at this time and moment, I am happy where we are at.

Life has changes us all when we create and design games. Its telling our own story in one way or another. Either it be a high fantasy , strategic, and tactical, hack n'slash steam punk storyline like mine or a science fiction card game like yours, or an abstract game, a hero / villain card game, and much others. I tell my story cinematographically.

We are delighted that you are working diligently on making your game a success and live demoing at the Comic Con this year and next. We are working toward that goal, even if the game never makes it to the next destination, a comic con. That is alright with us.

Just to add a footnote about "designing"...

I still to this day sign all my e-mails "Indie" Game Designer. I'm not a member of IGA (Indie Game Alliance) ... the reason I add the "Indie" is because I personally think MOST of US are "Indie" or Independent Game Designer.

Why I think this is significant is because we don't WORK as "Game Designers". I think it's WRONG to say: "Because I spent a couple of hours designing a game makes me a 'Game Designer'"

REAL "Game Designers" WORK for Publishers. "Indie" Game Designers, or US, work for OURSELVES. Would I be able to be a TRUE "Game Designer" - IDK. It probably takes a lot of CREATIVITY because you always need to come up with more innovative ideas.

So being an "Indie" Game Designer is NOT bad. Actually many games on BGG are designed by one-timers or Independent Designers. Big Publishers may put out new games every once and a while... But INDIE designers collectively are the "heart" of change and innovation -- because there are many them who only manage to publish one or two games.

In my opinion, the PROFESSIONALS are "Game Designers", the people working as designers for a Publisher. The rest of us "wannabies" (and I say that colloquially) are more "Indies" looking to get our shot at making a game that is FUN and played by a whole lot of people... That's the destination in my mind (or my own personal journey).

Of course I am designing MORE expansions and have plenty of additional IDEAS for "TradeWorlds"... At the same time, I'd like to see what OTHER people are interested in having as a *NEW* Scenario or maybe a Tactic card idea, etc. Some community development if you wish...

Peace.

Brand New Update:

Here is the list of the new updates for this month of July.

1: Our July contest on our Facebook pages are nealy up.

This consists of the following:

Creating a group name for the Treasure Hunters' Guild other than calling them the Treasure Hunters' Guild in the story line and chapter decks.

2: The monster list for the Wicker Tangle Chronicles were categorized for our first chapter deck.

3: The Wicker Tangle Chronicles monster list has 11 new monsters. The list is now at 128 out of 300.

4: The Treasure Hunters' Guild chapter deck has 10 characters, 30 new monster encounters. We are adding 20 more cards for the equipment to make this deck 60 cards instead of the original card deck that was planned.

5: The new monster encounters have quite a bit of back story for our heroes and we were excited to come up with the new monster encounters and how they correlate to the game and storyline.

6: No new play mat designs due to writing our Beyond The Horizon 4th wall comedy pun web series Season 1 Part 2 episode manuscripts. We are currently on episode 14. We are writing five seasons. One of our members is also writing a spinoff series.

Good evening -Super

I am keeping the list classified. Why? There is no reason to show the list before the game is released and be surprised now than later. Plus with the newest novel chapter decks, the monster encounter lists are not completed yet. Other than having 128 out of 300 on the list so far and of that 128, 30 of those monsters has been put on the Treasure Hunters' Guild chapter deck. Then to create and name the last part of the 300 momonster encounter list. I will also be creating more monster encounter lists to fill this second novel tbrough out the last three novels of the first novella.

After this first novella, that is five novels , I am planning a sequel franchise of another five novels with many new ideas to come. Who knows who will return, who will fight for the cause and who will stay home for other reasons.

Hopes this answers your question.

Stands up and walks over...

To the watercooler at the end of the work desk aisle.
Yawns. Grabs a cup. Bends over and tips the lever to pour water into the snowcone cup.

Thinking to self and aloud to self.

So what have I accomished yesterday night and today during my normal day job away from the studio.

Well, last night I hand cut 60 cards now trimmed downed to the actual size of a trading card instead of eye balling the half of a index card and cuting two cards in half at the same time. Its comforting to me to hand cut these cards.

For today, during my normal job during the slow time of making pizza and grinders, I made my list for the 20 equipment cards that is going with the Treasure Hunters' Guild Chapter deck. I have extended the deck from 40 to 60 cards.

Second; I started another list of new monster encounters event cards. So far I have 5 event cards and 4 new monster encounters out of 60 on the list. There will be 20 different event cards and 40 monster encounters.

Third: I drew a pre-design map location that will be featured later in the storyline and chapter deck boxes.

So yeah, yawns. Thats' it for now.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Will be filling in the cards with the text from the lists tonight.

The Latest Update:

July 19, 2017

Wicker Tangle Chronicles : Second Novel

Treasure Hunters' Guild Chapter Deck is the first chapter in the Wicker Tangle Chronicles novel.

Treasure Hunters' Guild Equipment deck list is completed.

Treasure Hunters' Guild Monster Encounter list completed.

Treasure Hunters' Guild Character List : 3 Names out of 10 set.

TriiDorium is the region where Dymino Monsters belongs to. I have finally come up with a simple calendar after four years debating on this for the story line.

The Wicker Tangle Chronicles novel has 3 parts within the novel. Each part has 14 chapters. In total; this makes 42 chapters.

I have also reconstructed the story line as well.

Before there 5 novel sets planned from 2012. Now I have dropped it to 3 novel sets and add the two novel titles within the third novel.

Brand New Update:

This morning at 5:35 a.m. I have completed the first novel chapter deck : Treasure Hunters'Guild. The deck was going to be a standard deck of sixty cards but I dwindled the deck down to 42. The other cards will be placed in the next few chapter decks.

I have put my chapter deck picture in the prototype album forum.

Stay tuned for more updates.

I have already started on the second chapter deck last week during my normal day job. Each chapter deck normally takes about three weeks to work out. Sometimes four. I also work on multiple chapter decks at a time anyways.
